I've spent the last two days immersed in a book. It's such a luxury to be able to laze around and read for hours.
I've watched both seasons of HBO's The Game of Thrones, but had never read the book. I am thoroughly enjoying it and am impressed at how well the series is following the plotline of the book.
Let's see, what else have I done the last few days?
The Husband and I went to happy hour at Juniper on Friday. As always, the staff was great, the drinks were great and the appetizer we shared was great. If you have never visited Juniper, you must plan to do so soon!
Saturday night we attended a friend's birthday party, which was loads of fun. It was a great mix of people, of which we only knew a handful. It was fun to meet new people and have a lot of laughs with them.

It is a fascinating story.

A Day In Bed
I woke up sick with a head cold this morning and have spent all day in bed sleeping, reading and watching TV.
I had a couple of months worth of the following series on the DVR:
- Desperate Housewives
- Brothers & Sisters
- Grey's Anatomy
- Private Practice
- The Event
As a friend said to me recently, it may be time for me to break up with some of these shows. If I haven't found time to watch them by now, they must not be interesting to me any longer.
Do you watch these shows? If yes and now you don't, why did you quit watching?
I think I'll erase the DVR settings to record these shows. I can always watch them on the internet or On DEMAND if I change my mind.
I hope I feel better tomorrow. Mom wants to take The Sister and me to lunch here.
How was your day?

We Are Decorated!
I admit it. I'm a very linear person, which means I'm a "one holiday at a time" girl. Never do my Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations mix. On Friday, I put away Thanksgiving and pulled out Christmas.
Our indoor tree is up. It's a metal ornament tree. It will spin around slowly, if we wish. (Hey, I'm linear, but I'm not boring!) We purchased this tree several years ago and it holds all the wonderful ornaments we collect during our travels.
We have an outdoor tree on our front porch. We put lights on it and the decorations are salt dough ornaments that family, friends and neighbors paint during our annual holiday open house. I'll post a picture of it decorated in its full glory after the party. For now, you'll have to be satisified with the photo of The Husband cutting down the tree at the Owasso Christmas Tree Farm, with me "helping." I'm an excellent helper.
I'll share a couple of other areas of the house that have been decorated. The fireplace mantel is below. The green Santa in the middle was purchased in New Orleans earlier this year. I think he is cool.
I had the gas line in our fireplace capped a few years ago. The random smell of gas made me a bit nervous, you see. The bonus is that I have another place to decorate! The poinsetta painting is an antique mall purchase from several years ago. It's part of my "dead lady" art collection I'm amassing for seasonal decorating.
And finally, our guest bath has been overrun with elves and black Santas. We encourage diversity around here! If you look closely, you'll find several black Santas at our house. (Check the mantel picture.)
I did all this decorating while watching television.
No sappy Christmas movies for me though.
I watched the first three episodes of "The Walking Dead." I'm happy that all of our questions about what would happen during a zombie apocalypse are now answered.
So, are you decorated?

Team Barnabas
The world has been taken over by vampires. Again.
Does anyone, besides me, remember Barnabas Collins?
He was the sexy vampire of the 1960's soap, Dark Shadows.
I vividly remember rushing home from elementary school and watching Dark Shadows.
Did you?
Did you love Barnabas, as I did?
In these modern times of "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob", I am still "Team Barnabas!"

Lost - The Final Season: The Package

I love Lost.
You know that.
I've not blogged about the new episodes the last few weeks, because I'm speechless.
I've been a Lost fan from the very first episode.
I've stuck with this series through thick and thin.
I know the show will have a BIG ending.
And, I hope I understand it!

Beautiful Blogger Award From Jenn
Jenn, over at Perspective Required, gave me the Beautiful Blogger award:

The original rules of this award were to list 7 interesting things about yourself. Jenn modified the rules and listed 7 bizarre little quirks and/or weird chapters from her past. Now she wants to know the same about me! Here it goes:
1) I count things. All the time. All things. The Husband knows if we are out driving and pass a field of cows, he can ask me how many cows were there and I can tell him. (OCD, anyone?)
2) I check, re-check and re-check to make sure the doors are locked every evening. (OCD, anyone?)
3) I only allow myself to eat Funyons in the car while on a long road trip. Otherwise, I'd want them all the time.
4) I love laundry. I love the whole act of taking a pile of dirty clothes and making them clean, fresh smelling and put away in their correct places.
5) I've read Mrs. Mike at least 25 times since I was a young teenager. I just love this book!
6) The Husband has banned me from looking up any illness on the internet. If I have a common cold, after looking on the internet I will be convinced I have the most bizarre ailment. He uses "that" tone of voice and tells me, "Do NOT look on the internet, Cindy."
7) I have been a Trekkie since the original show was first aired. I've seen all the movies based on the original show. I've also seen most of the Star Trek, The Next Generation episodes. I absolutely adore the comedy "The Big Bang Theory" because the guys are such geeks and quote Star Trek a lot.
There you have it, Jenn. A little peek into what makes me, me. Hope it doesn't scare you away!
Now, all of you go visit Jenn and get to know her! Perspective Required

Lost: Episode 5 of The Final Season

"Lighthouse"
I know lots of people are frustrated by the lack of answers to old questions in the new episodes.
Not to mention, the new questions that are raised in every new episode.
But I have confidence by the end of the season all our questions will be answered.
What do we know after this episode?
On the island:
- Claire is crazy, but at least we now know what happened to her
- Jin is a terrible liar
- Hurley follows directions well and is funny
- Jack ultimately still thinks only of himself
Sideways:
- Jack has a son
- Christian is still a jerk
I can't wait to see the episode again and to read the blogs on the web tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to next week.

Lost: Episode 4 of The Final Season

"The Substitute"
Awesome episode.
Great, witty dialogue that caused a number of giggles. Ben's eulogy was priceless. As was Sawyer saying "I guess I'd better put some pants on."
Lots of information to mull over. We are getting closer to answers, I believe.
Look closely at the photo above. Everyone except Locke is facing forward. Locke has his back to us. Perhaps it symbolizes he is not the real Locke, but is the fake Locke.
And the Old Spice commercial was the best!

Lost: Episodes 1 & 2 - The Beginning of The End

"LA X 1" and "LA X 2"
After last night, I have even more questions. Do you think they will ever give us any answers?

American Idol
I am not an American Idol fan.
I did, however, watch the show last year when David Cook was performing. I did this simply because of his Tulsa connection.
This year, I've gone back to not watching the show.
But who in the world can resist this audition? Not me, for sure.
It made me laugh and I hope General Larry Platt reaps a financial reward from his 15 minutes of fame.

As The World Stops
I can't believe the World is going to stop in September, 2010.
I grew up with my grandmother and mother watching As The World Turns. I must confess, I have watched it off and on for all of my 50 years.
This is a tragedy* for ATWT fans, just like it was for Guiding Light fans when that show ended this year.
Whatever will we do without ATWT? Where I could occasionally be tempted into watching the show, I certainly will not be tempted to watch any game shows, reality shows or talk shows that may be scheduled to replace it.
*Tragedy might be too strong a word to describe this situation. However, it will be like losing really good neighbors when the show is gone.

Vanity Cards
Do you know what vanity cards are? Until last year, I did not.
They are the screen of text that is shown very briefly following most Chuck Lorre Productions tv shows:

- The Big Bang Theory
- Two and a Half Men

If you DVR the shows, during playback you can pause and read the text. Or, you can go here and read them.
The network has censored him several times, because these can be controversial. Funny, but controversial.
