This and That

I've not posted much recently because I haven't felt well and didn't want to do anything. I managed to get to the grocery store, fix dinners, do laundry and take my Mom to the doctor, but not much else.

Oh wait, I did sew a couple of storage bags for some of my entertaining pieces. I want to make sure the odd sized pieces don't get chipped or scratched when not in use, so I'm making my own bags. They are turning out pretty well, if I do say so myself, and are lots cheaper than buying them pre-made. I have a few more bags I want to make this week.

Sunday morning we went out to family breakfast and a good time was had by all, especially my Mom.

This morning I went to the dentist, which is always fun.

No, really. It is fun!

I've never been afraid of the dentist. My dentist from childhood to my late 20's was great. He was funny, good at distracting kids and could work on you while causing little or no pain. When it was time for him to retire, he sold his practice to a dentist who is every bit as good and might possibly be even funnier. His wife is the hygienist and she is nice and funny and also good at her job.

If you are looking for a dentist in Tulsa, I heartily recommend Dr. Jeff Parker and his staff.

Hopefully, I'll have some interesting things to write about this week. Stay tuned!

Note: I am not being compensated for this recommendation. Jeff has no idea I am writing this on my blog. None whatsoever!

Illness & Dreams

I've not posted in a few days because I've not felt well with sinus and ear infections.

I haven't had a ear infection in years and years and years. My ears hurt so bad a couple of nights ago, I called my mommy and asked her for my magic, pink silk pillowcase. When I was a child and had earaches, she would put the pillowcase on my pillow and tell me to rub my ears on it. It distracted me, made me feel better and gave the medicine time to work.

Now you know how bad my ears hurt for me, at 51 years of age, to phone my mommy, who is 79 years old, asking for my pink silk pillowcase!

I saw the doctor and got some meds, so I'm on the road to recovery.

I always dream a lot, but when I'm sick the dreams come fast and furious. Last night I had two very different dreams.

The first dream involved saving the world by assisting an Asian ninja assasin. The details are really fuzzy.

The second dream had The Husband and I purchasing a trailer home at a lake. The former owners did not clean the trailer. The wife would cook and then put dirty casserole dishes and dirty tupperware in plastic garbage bags and store them in the back of the cabinets. I kept pulling out bags of dirty dishes and getting hysterical. My husband kept telling me, "Throw them away!" I kept saying, "These dishes are too good to throw away! I must wash them!" The last scene in the dream was me trying to soak the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink.

Maybe I had that dream because I left a pan soaking in our sink last night? Yeah, that could be it. First thing I did this morning in the kitchen was clean that pan.

I do solemnly promise you that I do not put bags of dirty casserole and tupperware dishes in the back of my cabinets. Cross my heart!

How To Pop A Rib Out Of Place - OUCH!

I was laying in bed this morning, thinking about how good I felt and all the things I wanted to get done today. I thought to myself, "I'll get out of bed and get moving." As I was thinking that, I put my arms above my head and S T R E T C H E D.

Something P O P P E D and P A I N started radiating through my chest and back.

I gasped and stretched again. More P A I N. I struggled out of bed and stretched again. More P A I N and a few tears.

I managed to shower and dress. The Husband drove me to the chiropractor's office. The doc said I had popped a rib out of place (WTH?) and the ligaments attached to the rib were stretched out. He popped the rib back in place, which made me feel a bit better. The problem is that stretched ligaments can take days or weeks to heal. (good grief!)

So here I sit, alternating an ice pack on my back to my chest hoping to ease the pain. So much for getting a lot of things done today.

You can help me feel better by entertaining me with stories of the most bizarre way you've ever injured yourself. Come on, tell me. It will be our little secret!

"I Live!" I Say "I Live!"

Today has been an excellent day for me. I am finally recovered from the irritating head cold I've suffered from since mid-week.

This morning I hopped out of bed early. I showered. I dressed. I put on make-up. I put on jewelry. I was ALIVE!

I've tidied up. I've grocery shopped. I've wrapped presents. I've cooked. It's been wonderful.

My poor Husband got sick a day later than me and is still under the weather. I had hoped today would be his last sick day, but he seems to have had a sinking spell this evening. I've got my fingers crossed that tomorrow he'll be much better.

I've got a list of shopping to do tomorrow and more presents to wrap. Plus, I really must work on our Christmas cards.

What's on your schedule for the day?

Will It Ever End?

The Husband and I are both still under the weather.

I managed to run a few errands Friday morning and then spent the rest of the day resting from the exertion. The Husband didn't do any better.

Today we have spent all day in our pajamas. Sleeping, reading, watching bad tv.

I'm getting dressed tomorrow. I swear!

A Second Day In Bed

I've spent most of the day in bed again and I am feeling better. Maybe I'm better since I have given into my overpowering urge to sleep?

Unfortunately, The Husband is now feeling poorly and is in bed.

Hopefully, we'll both get over this quickly as we have things to do.

Lunch here with The Mom and The Sister has been delayed until next week. Plus, I've got Christmas cards to address, presents to wrap and a puzzle to put together!

A Day In Bed

I woke up sick with a head cold this morning and have spent all day in bed sleeping, reading and watching TV.

I had a couple of months worth of the following series on the DVR:
  • Desperate Housewives
  • Brothers & Sisters
  • Grey's Anatomy
  • Private Practice
  • The Event
As a friend said to me recently, it may be time for me to break up with some of these shows. If I haven't found time to watch them by now, they must not be interesting to me any longer.

Do you watch these shows? If yes and now you don't, why did you quit watching?

I think I'll erase the DVR settings to record these shows. I can always watch them on the internet or On DEMAND if I change my mind.

I hope I feel better tomorrow. Mom wants to take The Sister and me to lunch here.

How was your day?

I'm Better!

I'm feeling better. Okay, yes I still sleep A LOT. Sleep is GOOD. The End.
