Vintage Tulsa Show

The Sister and I went to the Vintage Tulsa Show today.
We had a great time and saw a lot of beautiful items.
Especially oak furniture.
Oh, the oak furniture.
Be still my heart!

I did not purchase this mega phone.
I think I may regret it for the rest of my life.
Especially since I went to school in NORTH Tulsa!

I sorted through a tangled pile of jewelry
and found one of these fabulous King Tut earrings.

I continued to sort through the pile and found the mate.
I laid them together on the table, outside of the tangled pile.
I told The Sister if they were still there when we went through the show,
I would take them home with me.

They are FABULOUS, yes?

I would have loved to have brought this beauty home
to live in the Peacock Room.
Alas, he was much too expensive.
He would have felt totally out of place with his cheaper cousins.

It was a good show and better than that, is the fact I had a fun time with The Sister!

Selling My Costume Jewelry

Behold, a selection of my jewelry from the late 1980's and early 1990's.

These pieces have been in a couple of small jewelry boxes, hidden away in a drawer in my nightstand. I put them there 9 years ago when we moved to this house and have not looked at them since. Prior to that move, I probably hadn't looked at or worn them for 6 or 7 years.

As I looked at the necklaces, brooches or earrings, I vividly remembered which blouse, sweater or dress I wore with each. It was a walk down memory lane of my time in corporate America where the dress code was formal and I wore a suit, hose and heels every day.

One of the advantages to operating a booth in an antique mall is the opportunity to sell personal possessions you no longer use or love. I'm going to liberate this jewelry and allow someone else to love and wear it.

These pieces will be making their way to Cindy's Cupboard at Antique NV in a few days.

Do you have jewelry that hasn't seen the light of day in years?

The Land of Enchantment

We've been in New Mexico for a while, without consistent internet access.

Last Friday, we drove to Santa Fe and checked into a very nice B&B. We toured the Santa Fe Plaza immediately (not our first rodeo!)

I would rate the Bed & Breakfast as a 7 on a 10 point scale. The reason being they are undergoing a major remodel and things happen during remodels. Make no mistake, the breakfast was outstanding. Freshly brewed coffee, orange and cranberry juice, hot tea, fresh fruit, plus outstanding breakfast quesadillias (with salsa and sour cream). The downside was the Comcast connection was not working, hence no cable TV or internet connection.

Trust me, after spending a week (or more) in a remote cabin without internet, when you pay for a B&B that advertises both internet access and cable tv access, you are more than a little bit disappointed when that does not occur.

After our B&B breakfast, we drove to the Santa Fe Flea Market. Oh my!  Many, many interesting and pretty things to be purchased. I must confess, I purchased a lovely bracelet. I so love jewelry!

We left the flea market and drove straight to our friends house in Albuquerque. We had an easy lunch and drinks at home, then went to Sam's Club to shop. Proving, once again, these friends are friends to have fun with no matter what we do!

Our friends cooked a fabulous salmon, asparagus and potato dinner.

Everyone went to bed and I stayed up to write this post, because I didn't want you to think I forgot to update you on my life.

What has been going on in your life?

I Am Happy to be HOME !!!

For a variety of reasons, this past week has not been the best.

I spent the majority of the time waiting for a specific discussion to occur (which never did) and fretting over some other things. Things over which I have absolutely no control. I was EXTREMELY happy to arrive home Thursday evening. Tough times always seem less tough and more managable at home.

And, to add to my delight of being home, my new peacock necklace was waiting for me.

I've been coveting this necklace ever since the artist posted it on her blog, Sunny Rising Leather. I finally took the plunge and ordered it. May I just say it is gorgeous? Thanks to Allison for creating the necklace. It has jumped to the top of my favorites list already!

For those of you who have not found Allison previously in the internet world, take a a few moments to visit her blog and her two Etsy shops:

It is time well spent.
