Fiori De Como by Dale Chihuly

I recently spent 4 days in Las Vegas attending
a work related convention at the Bellagio.

I was very impressed with the
which dominates the lobby of the hotel.

I took the following photos with my iPhone.

It was impossible to get the entire piece in one photo.

I like this photo with the beautiful flower arrangement
juxtaposed in front of the glass.

However, I love the composition of this photo with the flowers off center.
I also love the yellows and oranges in the upper left corner.
This may be the best picture I have ever taken with my iPhone.

I have not taken the time to see the
but it is most certainly on my "to do" list now.

Have you seen any of his works?

Roadtrip - July 25, 2013

Beginning odometer: 56,656
Ending odometer: 56,914

After sleeping late, we opted to pick up a quick breakfast and eat on the road. Nothing exciting happened during the drive, other than the stop for our sign picture.

While The Husband was setting up the tripod, some people stopped to make sure we were okay and not having car trouble. How nice of them!

We continued on our drive and finally arrived at our destination at 4:00 p.m.

CHICAGO!

Specifically, the Sheraton, which is located right on the river.

And, why you ask, were we there?

For me to attend BlogHer13, of course!

My next post will be about my BlogHer experience.

Men's Dress Code Violation

The Husband and I pulled into the Northwest Inn parking lot in Woodward, OK this evening and saw a grown man getting into a truck with another man wearing a tee shirt, basketball shorts like these and workboots like these.

Really?

We went for dinner at J B's Steakhouse, which is a nice restaurant. There was a family of four waiting for a table. Father, mother, son and daughter. The father was wearing the same outfit as the man at the hotel, except his boots looked like this.

Really? Couldn't you dress a little better to take your family to dinner on Friday night?

It wasn't just me thinking these thoughts, as there was another family of four waiting for a table and they were talking about it when he left the waiting area. I heard the daughter from that group say "His son is going to grow up thinking it is okay to dress like that in public."

Casual dress has become way too casual. Let's go back to the time when people put some effort into dressing before going out.

(I won't even tell you about the guy at the steakhouse whose untucked shirt didn't cover the bottom of his belly, which was hanging over his pants.)

What do you think? Do you think a return to more formal public dress is in order?

We are almost home from our trip to New Mexico and I'll have a few vacation stories to share with you during the coming week!

Updated to add:

Dinner at J B's Steakhouse was excellent. We are happy to recommend it for a nice meal and good service.

The Northwest Inn is a good place to stay. It appears to be recently renovated and was clean, with lots of amenities. The free hot breakfast for hotel guests was excellent. We are also happy to recommend this facility!

Note: These are our opinions, we were not compensated for these recommendations.

Springhill Suites by Marriott - Moore, OK

The Husband and I went to Oklahoma City on Friday for a college graduation party for one of our adult nieces and her husband. We booked a room for the night at the Springhill Suites in Moore, OK. We liked it so much, I took a few pictures.

As you walk in the front door, you see coffee/refrigerator/microwave station.
Glance slightly to the left and you see this desk/room divider, with a view of the bed.
See the envelope on the table in the above photo? It contained this handwritten, personalized note.
Glance further left and you see the living area:
Stroll into the bedroom and see The Husband checking out the bedside lights, which were very cool.
The bathroom was very interesting. It was two rooms. The first room contained this large mirror and sink, with the glass framed shower (reflected in the mirror.)
The second room contained the toilet and a second sink and mirror:
These were very small rooms, but quite efficient.

The bed was comfy, the shower spray was strong, the water was hot, the free breakfast was decent and the staff was friendly. All of this for $78 per night. What a deal!
